Pris-a-wis

Halle is really into caterpillars and butterflies (thanks to Little Einsteins.) This weekend Mom brought her class caterpillars with her (along with an entire milkweed plant to feed them!) Halle is still talking non-stop about seeing the baby caterpillars and the "Pris-a-wis" (chrysalis.)

Here she is, just up from her nap, checking on the caterpillars:

Here are some pictures of Jon David's sad little "Happy Birt-day Cookie." For the record, I DID make him a dinner and dessert of his choice. Halle got to pick out the "cake" to put a candle in, though. It was a doozy... She ended up blowing out the candle herself.

One of my kiddos from last year went to Rainy Day Books near the Plaza when Laura and Jenna Bush came in town. There were very long lines, so Lucy decided to write Laura a letter to pass the time. The last week of school, Lucy gave me an autographed children's book by Laura and Jenna. In May, she received a letter from Laura. By the time she received the package, school was out. Lucy's mom visited me last night at Back to School Night and gave me a copy of Laura's letter to Lucy. I guess I'm three degrees from the president of the United States! Here is the letter:
